Earning the GRI Designation in Virginia:
REALTOR® Institute Policy requires that, to earn the GRI designation, you must complete twelve modules of the REALTOR® Institute within a five-year period, receive a passing mark on each module examination, and complete the GRI designation Application Form. Modules may be taken in any order, you may not miss more that 15 minutes of any one module, and you must hold membership in the National Association of REALTOR®.The GRI designation, once achieved, may only be used as long as the designee remains a REALTOR® member. A portion of the total program is based on objectives mandated by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTOR® for inclusion in each state’s curriculum. Remaining portions of the program have been developed to respond specifically to the education needs of Virginia REALTORS®. Therefore, a person who completes a course/module in another state may not necessarily receive a sufficient number of NAR mandated hours to qualify for the GRI designation.
Students wishing to obtain credit for a GRI course/module taken in another state will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
GRI Plus Program:
This program is a means by which a GRI designee may attend any one-day module of the GRI program, as an update, at a reduced rate of $35. This is an added benefit of being a GRI. For current GRI designees to take advantage of this program, the following rules apply:--Registrant must already be a GRI
--GRI Plus registrants should register on-site, and will be admitted on a space-available basis. They do not have to take the exam but do have to attend all day, up until the exam, to receive continuing education credit.
--If a class is full, the GRI Plus registrant may only be admitted if there are 'no shows' and all standby registrants have already been admitted.
