WOODBRIDGE, VA. October 21, 2016—REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI). The market statistics are gathered through data provided by the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.
September 2016 residential real estate sales have shown some positive improvement of the fall market season. A total of 670 homes were sold in September 2016, an increase of 2 percent compared to September 2015 closed sales. The number of new pending increased substantially of over 10 percent year-over-year, from 644 pending to 711. Active listings fell again this month with 1,591 active listings in September, compared to 2,147 in 2015. New listings also fell slightly this month by 1 percent year-over-year, from 896 new listings to 887. The median sold price of homes has stayed steadily positive this year overall, with an exciting increase of 7 percent to $330,500 as compared to last year ($309,000).
REALTOR® Association of Prince William CEO April McMillan says, “September brought back some positive growth as compared to September of 2015 market statistics. We have seen a substantial rise in median house price and new pending as well as a slight increase in homes sold for Prince William County compared to this time last year.”
