This past week I was able to take part in the first round of planning meetings for the next Prince William Comprehensive Plan.  Convened by Occoquan Supervisor Kenny Boddye and attended by Board of Supervisors Chair Deshundra Jefferson, the meeting focused on identifying major issues within the community that should be addressed by the Prince William County 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

Not surprisingly, transportations issues gathered the most attention of the seven working groups.  The concerns went beyond the obvious traffic issues. Issues discussed included making County roads more accessible to bicycle riders and pedestrian traffic as well as completing long stalled projects like the Route One revitalization project.  There was agreement among the groups that transportation was the top issue.

The County is planning to conduct these forums in each magisterial district. If you are interested in participating, please visit the webpage: Comprehensive Plan Homepage
