Cyber Security and Real Estate Professionals: You’d Better Be Doing It!

Real estate licensees must understand the wire fraud scams which have pervaded the residential real estate industry for a number of years. This session will:

• Describe the basics of a type residential transaction wire fraud scam along with the various ways cybercriminals can hack into email accounts and otherwise defraud both the real estate professional and his or her clients
• Address several real world cases involving loss of money and litigation brought against brokers and agents for negligence relative to wire fraud of their client
• Discuss all the steps to take in the event funds are stolen by cybercriminals
• Review some of the investigations, arrests and prosecution of cybercriminals for varying fraud scams in the recent years.
