Join us for an insightful and transformative DEI Roundtable Exchange, “Empowering Change.” This event will feature speakers representing diverse groups, including the Asian Real Estate Professional Association, LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, NAHREP Northern Virginia, National Association of Real Estate Brokers, and Virginia Realtors. Engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and explore strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the real estate industry. Together, we can empower change and foster a more inclusive community for all.

Originally from Texas and a proud Latina, Alba Martinez is a visionary entrepreneur and family-oriented businesswoman. With over 20 years of experience as an insurance producer in Northern Virginia, she transitioned to real estate, bringing her passion for community service.

As the host and producer of the Spanish radio show “Diseñando Tu Patrimonio” (Patrimony Designing), Alba advocates for the Hispanic community through broadcasting and social media. She was the Hispanic Forum Chair for the Northern Virginia Realtor Association in 2022 and the NAHREP10 Certified Trainer of the Year in 2023.

Serving on the board of directors for the NAHREP Northern VA Chapter since 2017, Alba is the 2024 President and Co-Chair for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Virginia Realtors (VAR). She is dedicated to promoting equality, inclusiveness, and diversity, firmly believing that “Together we do Más!”

Licensed in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, Christopher Suranna has been selling real estate with RLAH Real Estate since 2004. He served as the 2018 President of the DC Association of REALTORS® and is the 2024 President of the Greater Capitol Area Association of Realtors, which serves 11,000 members in DC and Montgomery County, MD. Christopher was honored as the 2020 DCAR REALTOR® of the Year.

Committed to growth, Christopher has volunteered on many committees at local, state, and national levels. He is a DC RPAC Major Investor Committee member and represents the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance on the NAR Multi-Cultural Committee. A REALTOR® Party major investor and President’s Circle member, he was inducted into the National Association of REALTORS® RPAC Hall of Fame in 2020.

A top producer every year since starting his career, Christopher works almost entirely by referral, helping first-time homebuyers and clients relocating to the DC metro area.

He also chairs the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee of The LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance and is the Founding President and current Board Member at Large of the local DC Chapter.

Guy Allen has over 40 years of experience in the real estate and mortgage business. He has been the sole proprietor of his own mortgage and real estate companies and served as an area manager for a successful mortgage banking company, supervising offices throughout the tristate area and other regions nationwide. His extensive experience in both industries has made him well-rounded and knowledgeable.

Guy has trained mortgage loan officers for over 33 years and educated real estate agents through his firm, One Stop Real Estate School, for 12 years. He is currently an Associate Broker for eXp Realty in Woodbridge, VA, achieving award-winning results in Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

Well-versed in his field, Guy has taught Principles of Real Estate and the Brokers course for Virginia pre-licensees. With over 20 years of experience as an REO Broker, he has sold properties for Freddie Mac, Indy Mac, Single Source Properties, Keystone Best, and Nations REO, as well as all major US Banks, handling residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Senior Vice President of Community and Industry Relations

Before becoming Senior Vice President of Community and Industry Relations for Virginia REALTORS®, Leslie worked for two Virginia governors, applying her skills and passion to an array of policy initiatives, from veteran and military issues to foster care. It was in her early endeavors on political campaigns that she garnered a foundation in community organizing, helping her to build relationships and foster strong connections to assist her with reaching her goals. This background makes her a perfect fit for her role with Virginia REALTORS®.

In this position, Leslie focuses on issues impacting fair housing and real property policy. She is the primary point of contact for state and national organizations that influence these issues. In addition, Leslie creates and leads the association’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. When she isn’t deep into policy and making great strides for the community, you can find her relaxing with family, traveling, or working out. If you see her on one of her many long walks around Richmond, be sure to wave! Lastly, Leslie’s love for Asian cuisine, especially Korean food, plays a big role in her life.

Nicholas Lichwick’s life journey has been one of complexity and unique experiences. Growing up in an orphanage in South Korea, he never imagined the possibility of achieving the American Dream. Despite the challenges of being adopted into a large family with limited resources, a tight-knit community provided him with unwavering support, propelling him toward a career in social work after college.

Currently in a leadership position at an exceptional mortgage company, Nicholas remains deeply connected to his roots in community service. His mission centers on giving back and advocating for children in the social welfare system, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to thrive and have equal opportunities. He believes that the success of any business is measured not only by profit but also by its positive impact on society and the lives it touches.
