MAJOR SALES INCREASE IN MAY 2021 PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY HOUSING MARKET
WOODBRIDGE, VA. June 18, 2021—REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by Virginia REALTORS® Chief Economist, Lisa Sturtevant, and SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Showing Time. The market statistics are gathered through data provided by VAR and Bright MLS, which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.
A total of 1,012 homes were sold in May 2021, a noticeable increase of 50.1 percent compared to May 2020 at 674. The number of pending sales also saw an increase of 25.1 percent year-over-year, from 900 to 1,126. New listings showed an increased percentage year-over-year, with 1,242 new listings, as opposed to 938 in May 2020. PWAR continued to have fewer active listings available last month with 376 active listings in May 2021, compared to 562 in 2020; a 33.1 percent decrease. The median sold price of homes saw an increase of 20 percent to $480,000 as compared to $400,000 last year. The average days on the market reduced to 7 in May 2021, as opposed to 18 in 2020.
