*New agents must submit their applications before PWAR’s Membership Director can schedule their appointment. New agents will be contacted by the Membership Director to schedule their appointments.
In order to become a REALTOR® member, you must be a licensed real estate agent, broker or appraiser in Virginia. Agents must also be affiliated with a REALTOR® firm that is a member of PWAR. New agents are also required to complete a New Member Orientation within 90 days of application submission. PLEASE NOTE: When transferring offices, agents must belong to the local association the broker or managing broker belongs to. If your new broker or managing broker does not belong to PWAR, you will no longer be eligible for PWAR membership. Please contact email@example.com with questions.

Per PWAR Bylaws Article X, Section 3: Dues for all Members shall be payable annually in advance on or before the 1st of January. If dues are not paid on or before the 15th of January, a late fee as established by the Board of Directors will be assessed. If dues remain unpaid by close of business January 31st, a reinstatement fee in addition to the late fee shall be assessed as established by the Board of Directors annually. All dues, fees and assessments are nonrefundable.

*Contributions are not deductible for federal or state income tax purposes. Contributions to RPAC of Virginia are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may contribute more or less than the suggested amount. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal and the National Association of REALTORS or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. NAR has one national RPAC Fundraising Goal for all associations. VAR has received from NAR its needs-based contribution goal based on VAR membership. Decisions regarding RPAC of Virginia contributions to meet the assigned contribution goal to NAR will be made throughout the fundraising year. Seventy percent of the Major Investor contributions at the state and local levels shall remain in place. Thirty percent of the Major Investor contribution is sent to NAR to support Federal candidates and is charged against the limits under 2 U.S.C. 441a.
VAR: Dues of $120 per member, VAR computes 9.1%, or $10.92, to be nondeductible for the member’s income taxes due to VAR lobbying efforts, and political activities. Membership dues are not deductible as charitable contributions, but may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. Note that the entire $100 new
member fee qualifies as a deductible expense.
NAR: For 2017, with dues at $120 per member, NAR computes 42 percent or $50 to be non-deductible for the member’s income tax purposes due to NAR lobbying efforts. Please note that the entire $35 Public Awareness Campaign special assessment qualifies as fully deductible.
As per the Bylaws, Article X, Section 3:
Dues Payable: Dues for Affiliate Members shall be payable annually on the first business day of January. If dues remain unpaid on the last business day of January your membership will be suspended without reference to any other provision of these Bylaws. All dues, fees and assessments are non-refundable.

You may contribute more or less than the suggested amount. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal and the National Association of REALTORS® or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. Up to 100% of your contribution is sent to National RPAC and is charged against your limits under federal law (2 U.S.C. 441a); National RPAC returns up to 70% of your contribution to Virginia RPAC for use in connection with the election of state and local candidates in Virginia.
