REALTOR® Association of Prince William Celebrates

National Fair Housing Month with Prince William County Proclamation

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) April 13, 2021 – Marking the celebration of the 53rd anniversary of the landmark 1968 Civil Rights legislation to prohibit discrimination practices in housing, Prince William Board of County Supervisors has passed a proclamation to designate April 2021 as “Fair Housing Month” in the county.

“The REALTOR® Association of Prince William is delighted that the County Supervisors have proclaimed April as Fair housing month,” said 2021 Association President Bill Coppa, a REALTOR® with Pearson Smith Realty. “All REALTORS® are bound by our Code of Ethics, Virginia law and the Federal Fair Housing Act to ensure the advancement of policies that promote and protect the availability of housing opportunities for all qualified consumers in every segment of the market and offer full access to the entire range of services provided by our members.”

Keeping the spotlight on housing discrimination, here in Prince William County is the only way to keep adding to the enormous progress made toward reducing discrimination.  This proclamation helps forge a greater bond between the County government and REALTORS® in these efforts.

“REALTORS® have enhanced Fair Housing training for members to better identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices in real estate,” Coppa added. “The REALTOR® Association of Prince William is grateful for the Board of Supervisors highlighting this important issue through this proclamation.”

The REALTOR® Association of Prince William County represents more than 1800 real estate professionals involved in all aspects of the real estate business.
