WOODBRIDGE, VA. July 22, 2016—REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI). The market statistics are gathered through data provided by the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.
Residential real estate sales continued to be favorable for the June housing market of Prince William County. A total of 913 homes were sold in June 2016, an increase over 9 percent compared to June 2015 closed sales. The number of new pending rose slightly by 1.1 percent year-over-year, from 909 pending to 919. The median sold price of homes continues to increase, up 3 percent to $339,900 as compared to last year ($329,900). Active listings fell again this month compared with 2015. These listings were 24 percent lower than last year’s, with 1,641 active listings in June, compared to 2,184 in 2015. New listings also fell this month by 5.8 percent year-over-year, from 1,180 new listings to 1,112.
REALTOR® Association of Prince William CEO April McMillan says, “With the exception of new and active listings, we have seen an increase in the number of new pending and closed home sales in Prince William County for the month of June. The median sold price for homes continues to increase nearly $10,000 compared to June 2015. We are optimistic the remaining summer months will show similar favorable statistics for the housing market.”
