NAR Code of Ethics Requirements

REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time within two-year cycles. The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

A new three-year cycle began March 1, 2022. The deadline for this cycle is December 31, 2024.

Training may be completed through local REALTOR associations or through another method such as home study, correspondence, classroom courses, or online courses. REALTORS® who have completed the required ethics training within a two-year cycle in one association shall not be required to complete any further ethics training for that same training cycle if the REALTOR® becomes or is a member of another association.

If you complete Ethics training outside of PWAR, please forward a certificate of completion to brandy@pwar.com in a timely manner to ensure your membership will not be suspended.

You can also take this course online through providers like The CE Shop, or The National Association of REALTORS .

Please note: Failure to complete the required periodic ethics training shall be a violation of a membership duty for which REALTOR® membership shall be suspended until such time as the member completes the required training.

DPOR’s Continuing Education Carryover Process

To determine if a licensee has eligible carryover CE credits, licensees must submit a worksheet to DPOR staff. Once a licensee submits this worksheet to DPOR for review, their staff will evaluate the information and determine if the licensee qualifies for CE carryover.

If the licensee has eligible CE credits, staff will enter those credits into the licensing database, and the CE credits will appear on the License Lookup webpage within two days of the staff review. In addition, all licensees who submit a worksheet will receive a letter indicating if they have carryover CE, no matter the eligible amount.

Courses completed before June 1, 2015 are not eligible for carryover. In addition, CE courses completed more than 6 months prior to a license’s expiration date are not eligible for carryover into the next license term.

Click here to access the worksheet, or to read more about the method for determining carryover eligibility.
