As a member of PWAR, you are also a member of Virginia REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®. Each of these organizations engages in advocacy efforts to safeguard your interests at various levels.

Advocacy: the act of pleading for, supporting, or recommending; active espousal: He was known for his advocacy of states’ rights.
The dictionary definition of advocacy highlights the main goals of what each level of the REALTOR® organization does for ALL members of the association. Advocacy is especially important during for helping to work with government on issues such as supporting business, supporting real estate customers and the American citizens who want to purchase or invest in Real Estate.

Issues: The issues of importance differ based on the level of government the association is working with, local, state or federal. While each association has definite responsibilities based on the level of government, the goal is always the same, to promote and protect the ability of REALTORS® to advance public policies and candidates that build strong communities, increase access to homeownership, and protect private property rights.

RPAC: The REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) serves as the primary mechanism for endorsing candidates from all political affiliations who advocate for the nonpartisan goals of REALTORS®. These goals include fostering resilient communities, enhancing homeownership accessibility, and safeguarding property rights.
